Word Order

Please indicate which pattern best describes the basic word order of your language in matrix (main) clauses:
*SOV
*SVO
*VSO
*OSV
*OVS
*VOS
*V-final
*V-initial
*free (pragmatically determined word order)
*finite verb or auxiliary in second position, else free word order

Note: Modules for V2 order (finite verb second, non-finite verb clause-finally) and differing word order between matrix and subordinate clauses are currently under development.

Does your language have determiners (as independent words)? *yes *no
If so, what is the order of determiners with respect to nouns? Noun-Det Det-Noun

Does your language have auxiliary verbs? *yes *no

If so, please specify the following auxiliary properties:

Word Order: Does an auxiliary verb appear before or after its complement?
before
after

Complements: The complements of auxiliaries are:
saturated sentences
VPs, raising the subject
Vs, raising all of its arguments (argument composition)

(If you work with a language where the complement type (V, VP, or S) varies depending on the auxiliary please let us know.)

Can there be more than one auxiliary in a clause?
yes
no

NOTE: If your language has free word order and allows more than one auxiliary per clause, we assume that the verbal group forms a cluster (i.e. that all verbal forms are adjacent to each other). If your language reveals different behavior, please let us know.

NOTE: As Modules for V2 order are still under development, relative order of auxiliaries and their complements have not been implemented yet.
